CFP's 9th Anniversary

For the USA, there will always be a “there, there”

May 15, 2013 marks the 9th Anniversary of Canada Free Press (CFP) as an online daily. Though CFP had been online since 1997, it wasn’t until May 15, 2004 that we began publishing daily.

Back in those days we were following closely the United Nations Oil for Food scandal. The Oil for Food Program was established by the UN in 1995 with the stated intent to allow Iraq to sell oil on the world market in exchange for food, medicine and other humanitarian needs for ordinary Iraqi citizens without allowing Iraq to boost its military capabilities. Instead, Oil for Food was caught in the glare of headlights when it was discovered that mega millions were going—not the people of Iraq—but to Saddam Hussein and various UN officials in what came to be called the biggest bureaucratic scandal in world history.

During the Oil for Food scandal, ‘Baghdad Bob’, media-dubbed ‘Comical Ali’, Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf in real life, infamously claimed that the Americans never invaded Baghdad and was shown in online pictures with American tanks standing right behind him.

Today’s ‘Comical Ali’ is President Barack Obama, who even though he’s CEO denies any accountability for the scandals crippling America: the ongoing and shocking Benghazi cover up, the IRS targeting the same conservative groups who faithfully pay their taxes, a DOJ who surreptitiously seize AP phone records, and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’ questionable fund-raising practices.

The absurd damage control currently coming from the White House is more transparent than the missing transparency promised by Obama during his 2008 election campaign.

Of the Benghazi scandal, Obama has said “there is no there, there”. (CBS News, May 13, 2013).

Ironic when we know at heart that even among the Marxist misery he spreads—even while no one is stepping forward to bring an effective halt to the Fundamental Transformation of America with which he seeks to destroy America—millions are still “there” for “USA!” “USA!”

Indeed, despite being forced up against all odds with a president who openly loathes all that America stands for, the patriots working to save America are the hope of a world that depends on America being there.

The concept of “being there” was brought home to CFP in time for its 9th anniversary when Jeff, a graphic designer in New York, until then a stranger to us, sent a new CFP banner he had designed.

“I’m the administrator at another large conservative and controversial web site both in the US an in Israel,” Jeff wrote. “I designed a completely new banner for you that I think you’ll really like—one that is very close to your original.

“I’ve been a graphic artist for almost 20 years now so it only took a few hours to put together. The images used were completely royalty free (I’m familiar with that, to say the least). I, also made sure it was the exact dimension of your existing logo so there would be no problems for you. I slightly brightened their colors to give a warmer feel that would match your page a little more and added a human element to make it more psychologically accepted to your readers.

“I do not want anything for the work and would rather stay somewhat anonymous (as I usually do because we get a lot of death threats). You can have it. It’s all yours, and I included the Photoshop file for your artists so they can make any change they wish.

“If you’d like me to change anything, just let me know. I hope to see the continued success of your wonderful site!”

Jeff, who bolstered our belief that there are good people and you have only to find them, is proof positive of the concept of “being there”.

Happy CFP 9th Anniversary to each and every one of CFP’s courageous, regular contributors and readers. For without you, there would be no CFP.

Heartfelt appreciation to all for proving the destructive, America-bashing Barack Obama wrong by proving there definitely is, and always will be, a real “there, there.”
